LIPOSUCTION

Perhaps the most common and requested cosmetic procedure after breast augmentation. Aimed at  remodeling body surfaces by reducing the thickness of the subcutaneous fat tissue in areas where this is excessive.

The maneuver is performed with variable caliber cannulas (3-4mm) introduced by point-like accesses.

The areas on which it is more suitable  are:

  • the anterior abdominal region and hips (especially for men)
  • the rear hips
  • the outer and inner thighs
  • the inside of the knee
  • the neck and chin can give excellent results
  • the supra-pubic region

The operation lasts from 1 to 2 hours depending on the size of the treated area, it can be performed under general anesthesia or sedation, postoperative pain is minimal and functional recovery is rapid (48h). Patients can resume work after 1 or 2 days without particular limitations. The post-operative dressing consists only of a soft and comfortable elastic sheath that does not limit ordinary clothing.

Early mobilization from the first hours after surgery is very important, wearing the appropriate sheath which must be kept for at least the first 3 weeks.

The best indication is for those patients who have already lost weight and have undertaken a balanced lifestyle free from overeating and frequent weight changes. In fact, the procedure is not a slimming treatment and should be reserved for areas resistant to natural weight loss.

Furthermore, it should not be overlooked that the real change after the intervention takes place in the immediate postoperative period with regular lymphatic drainage massages and then, by increasing physical activity aimed at the anatomical areas treated with specific exercises.

The results are visible just a few days after the operation but in order to enjoy the definitive result it is necessary to wait for the reabsorption of the edema and the re-establishment of the tissues, at least 6-8 weeks.

The harmony of a good liposculpture is given by the alternation of concavity and convexity, on the hips and buttocks, which is why it is often completed with a lipofilling that perfects and defines the volumes of some anatomical areas that the subtractive action of liposuction could never recreate.
